Now a days,  we can buy a scooter alarms in many shapes and sizes and it is often not a luxury but a necessity to prevent theft. It does not provide complete protection but tt's all about making it more difficult in the hope the scooter becomes less interesting for the thief

As in the topic "-My first scooter-" where my previous scooters had a chipkey integrated wich making them less attractive to thieves, today it is still necessary to have an extra alarm installed so that it becomes more unattractive to steal the scooter.

The price for a scooter alarm is no longer expensive as before. Motor alarms can also be used because they work on the same Voltage. Namely. . . . 12 Volts DC from a battery.

For my scooter i chosed for a  "-Spy alarm-".  These alarms are easy to install and reliable aswel in use.The speaker was later dismantled because i found it unnecessary.  The led indicator which indicates the status is more than sufficient.

Before i installed the alarm installed, i checked it in a test rig and programmed both keys. During the test fase, i checked all the functions to make shure they all work properly. Then i started to build in the alarm system. It operates for more then 2 years already and no problems what so ever.

All wirings are taped for weather protection. The taping is really necessary. Also. . . .  it looks better and gives an finishing touch.

The led indicator ii build into the cockpit. It had to be partially disassembled. I found this the best place because it's a nice addition for the cockpit. After everything checked again and the alarm tested everyting is put together and the system became operational.

If the scooter is not used foor a longer period of time, the battery is connected to a battery trickle charger as  explained in topic " -12 Volt charging system on your scoot- The battery is then maintained and remains in good condition. Especially during the winter period
